I have been teaching art at the secondary level for four years. The last two years I have been excessed from my postion due to lowering enrollments and fiscal constraints. Former students have written to me commenting on how the study of art has greatly affected their lives in a positive manner. High school students are currently producing work that is extremely thought provoking, meaningful, moving, and pertinent to their lives and their environment. It concerns me that students will have less opportunities to express themselves in a healthy way.  It is my hope that they (the students) will be able to continue to explore their questions and desires through art and that I will have the opportunity to be a part of that process.
