A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
Is anyone using the McRel software for classroom walkthroughs? If you are, can you please share your experiences? It looks similar to the one put out a few years ago by MediaX for the Palm Pilots. The major difference is that this is web based and can be accessed via a smartphone or Ipad.

Permalink Reply by Teh-yuan Wan on March 28, 2012 at 9:41am I have been told that MediaX has such a tool for iPad platform as well. I have not used it before. Before you invest in a tool like that, you may take a bit of time to find out the Common Core Assessment readiness tool kit created by the PARRC for appraising school's conditions and readiness for online assessment. Would it be a great idea to do the school building inventory and online learning and testing readiness appraisal in one fell swoop.
Permalink Reply by Paul Shuster on March 28, 2012 at 10:18am Media-X has an app for classroom/teacher/school observations for iPad, iPhone, Android phones and tablets, Blackberry and yes... even Palm. All are free but require an eWalk web account from Media-X (www.media-x.com).
Because eWalk has a web-based authoring component, you can use it to build classroom walk-throughs, teacher evaluations ( the Danielson Rubric for example), and the PARCC rubrics ( for instance the one shown here:
http://www.achieve.org/files/AchieveOERRubrics.pdf). Over 800 school districts, and 300,000 administrators are using Media-X for their classroom walk-throughs and teacher evaluations. Several departments of education have state-wide licenses for Media-X tools for classroom observations and teacher appraisals.
Permalink Reply by Teh-yuan Wan on March 28, 2012 at 10:39am Good to know. I am wondering if the Tool Kit by PARRC which is free for use by schools from the states in the online assessment consortium overlaps in its data collection on the data elements from the classroom walk-throughs for the online learning and testing readiness appraisal. As you are associated with the vendor, do you happen to know the costs for the eWalk account from the Media-X? Thanks.
Permalink Reply by Paul Shuster on March 28, 2012 at 11:12am Yes, I am associated with the vendor and I am trying to be informative but not making any sales pitches.
If you email me, I will privately give you pricing. You can then decide if you want to make the pricing public.
my email is: pshuster@media-x.com
