Comment by Karrie Anne Vitti on February 21, 2011 at 8:44pm I am glad you joined this group, I just created it this afternoon! I have just recently started to play with QR codes and I LOVE THEM! There are soooooooo many ways we can use them in education. I'd like to find different ways to implement them. The only downfall right now is that we need to depend on the students to have phones to read them. I would love to find a "QR Code Reader" for students. I know the new iPods have cameras on them but they are still expensive for some schools. I'd love to see some of your materials from your presentation!
Glad to see that you started this Forum. I am an Instructional Technology Specialist in Maryland.
Me and a collegue did a presentation at the Pennsylvania State Technology Conference last week on QR Codes that was very well received. We showed how to create them, connect to content materials for a science lab, how to download the software on the smart phones or IPod Touch 4 or computer with webcam and how students would use them.
We discussed how this can be set up in for science labs with the QR codes on a printed card for students to use at each lab station. Students could read the QR codes at the lab station and get the lab directions and related information i.e. videos, to complete the labs.
We are beginning to teach the use of QR codes in different content areas.
We are going to present again in April at the Maryland State Instructional Tech Conference.
