A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
You may remember that earlier this year NYSMEA members traveled to Louisiana to help restore the Gulf of Mexico after the BP oil spill. Did you miss out on the trip? Well, you're in luck, because we're going planning another trip for February 2012!
In February 2011, NYSMEA members helped to rebuild the habitats in New Orleans and the surrounding areas to ensure that wildlife have a healthy place to live. Activities includedrestoring dunes and wetlands, touring local facilities and learning about restoration work, and talking with experts about wildlife rehabilitation. On our upcoming trip, we're doing much of the same and also offering 45 hours of in-service credits for attending! Learn more about the 2011 trip by reading our Blog or visiting our Facebook page.
We've reserved FREE housing so, similar to last year, we estimate the trip should only cost about $450 + food (see below for details).
If you are interested in attending, please email Larissa by Dec 14th and we will send you more information about the trip. This trip is only open to members, but with NYSMEA's membership fee at $20/yr, how can you pass up an opportunity like this?!
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
When: Tues, Feb 21st to Sat, Feb 25th
Where: We will be staying at the Plant Materials Center in Galliano, LA
Cost: We estimate the cost of the trip with be about $450 (+ food). We have reserved FREE housing at the Plant Materials Center. Airfare will be about $400 if we book soon and rental cars will be about $50/pp. The housing includes a kitchen, so we plan on eating breakfast, lunch, and some dinners as a group to keep costs low.
