This four morning summer institute will uncover the missing link between the Common Core Standards and Response to intervention in Schools. A gourmet breakfast will be served each morning. Topics will include; a historical perspective of RTI and the content of the Common Core, practical applications of research based theories for implementing the Common Core in the RTI framework and technology applications to facilitate the implementation of the Common Core and RTI.See More

Dr. Dolores Burton has spent 36 years in education as a teacher, administrator, professional developer, consultant and author of numerous publications. She has presented papers regionally, nationally, and internationally on Response to Intervention, Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, brain based learning, mathematics instruction especially in inclusive settings, professional development, the use of technology in teaching and learning and strategic planning. She believes all children can learn and have a right to be in an educational environment that facilitates their academic successes. Her writing, presentations, and teaching reflect this belief. She is a Fulbright Scholar and has presented seminars in Europe, Asia and Africa. She received her bachelor and master’s degree from the State University at Stony Brook and holds a professional diploma from both Long Island University and Hofstra University. Her doctorate was earned at Hofstra University. She taught courses at SUNY at Stony Brook and currently is a retired professor and chair of the Division of Teacher Education at New York Institute of Technology.She co-authored a book, The Complete Guide to RTI: An Implementation Toolkit with John Kappenberg. A second book on Mathematics, RTI and the Common Core will be published by Corwin Publications in early 2013.
