I am conducting research on teacher leadership. I am interviewing New York State teachers about the current reforms especially CCS and Teacher Evaluation plans. I welcome thoughts and comments from all educators and am especially concerned with the teaching profession and how it is under "attack".

I do believe the teaching profession is under attack. Teachers are asked to wear many hats in the classroom. The new evaluation systems disregard the social capital of our students and other extenuating circumstances. The lack of support from our administrators and parents is absolutely baffling. Teachers are asked to make something out of nothing, but then are not acknowledged for the efforts and reprimanded harshly for what are viewed as shortcomings. Maybe if we stopped focusing on standardizing our children we could then truly educate them.
